The Doxology Institute

About the Doxology Institute

Our Mission

The mission of The Doxology Institute is to interpret Christian arts to churches, communities, and individuals; to encourage artists in their spiritual formation and artistic development; and to encourage the creation of new works of Christian art.

Our Focus

The Doxology Institute will focus on several artistic genre: dance and interpretive movement, visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, video, film, and graphics), theatre, writing, and musical forms outside those typically found in Christian worship services (especially Jazz).

Our Methods

The Doxology Institute will fulfill its mission in at least four ways: through educational events like workshops, conferences, retreats, and consultations; through the dissemination of media; through the sponsoring of artistic events; and through the commissioning of original works of Christian art.

Our Reason for Being

Jesus said, "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." (John 4:23 NIV)

Worship is communion with God in which believers, by grace, center their mind's attention and their heart's affection on God. Communion requires an intimate relationship where two parties open, reveal or disclose themselves to one other. But because human beings are finite and God is infinite, God must disclose himself in ways that are comprehensible to our finite minds. He must build a bridge that spans the gap between the physical and the spiritual. God has revealed Himself by building different bridges throughout history. Those bridges included: theophanies, prophets, church, scripture, etc. In post-modern, post-Christian culture, God seems to be building the bridge of revelation through symbolic and performing arts. It is our prayer that God will use The Doxology Institute to breathe fresh air into His people and His churches through the arts.
